COVID-19 is an ever-evolving situation which we will be monitoring closely. We will follow all local, state and national guidelines set forth at the time of the race. Based on the current restrictions we feel confident that our outdoor event will be possible. When you register you will be required to accept our waiver that states: "By entering the venue, I voluntarily assume all risks related to potential exposure to COVID-19 and confirm that I will adhere to venue, local, state and CDC guidelines. The most up-to-date and relevant health resources can be found on the CDC website and the Maine CDC website." All participants will be required to adhere to any COVID-19 precautions that are required for the safety of this event. This event is about community and we thank you in advance for you cooperation and understanding.
Absolutely! This is a day for remembrance and community as we celebrate the life of Ryan King. All are invited!
All food trucks seemed to be either booked or in permanent locations. But there will be PIZZA! There will be an assortment of pizzas from Alexia's Pizza in Belfast. Donations to help cover cost will be accepted.
All proceeds after race expenses will be donated to the Appalachian Mountain Club in honor of Ryan King. Ryan was as passionate about hiking as he was about running and spent many hours hiking along the AT as well as doing trail work and maintenance.

Take Route 1 to Belfast until you get to a traffic light. At the traffic light, turn onto Route 52 West. From the south this is a left turn, from the north it is a right turn. Look for the Bank of America/Athenahealth complex at this intersection. The school is ½ mile from the light, on the right, past the YMCA.

If you can't make it to Belfast on October 9th but still want to take part by virtually running a 5k then by all means run wherever you are. Although we won't be timing you we would be glad to share your name and time on this website. If you use the form at the bottom of this page prior to the race to let me know that you will be running virtually we will announce your name at the start of the race. Additionally, if you order a t-shirt by September 24th to be shipped, I will include a race bib as well. (Note: t-shirt and race bib may not arrive by October 9th but we will do our best.)(T-shirt ordering information is available in the "Just want a t-shirt? Spectators and virtual racers can get one too.")
We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and are hopeful to proceed as planned with our outdoor event. However, if we are unable to host the race on October 9, 2021, we will reschedule for Spring of 2022. Date to be announced by January 1, 2022. If it is decided that we will be unable to host the event in the spring, then registration fees will be donated to the Appalachian Mountain Club. If at the time of cancellation an entrant does not want their registration payment donated, they can request a refund minus registration processing fee by emailing bryan@ryanking5k.com.
Yes! If interested please send an email to bryan@ryanking5k.com.
